There are some really big plans coming from Xplornet, and Advanced Tech will be offering it. As Xplornet’s authorized local internet dealer, you will be able to go directly through them and have your internet service set up quickly and easily.
Now for the news. Xplornet is in the process of implementing an ambitious plan to offer 25 Mbps download speeds to 100% of rural Canadians by July of 2017. Many rural internet packages, currently offered, don’t even top 1.5 Mbps. That would be a huge increase and Xplornet intends for all rural Canadians to have it. To get a better understanding of internet speed, the Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission claims that one needs download speeds of about 6 Mbps to stream high definition video content on Netflix.
To accomplish this, Xplornet plans to launch two next-generation satellites into orbit by mid-2016 in addition to the three it currently uses. Paul Bush, senior vice-president of corporate and business development at Telesat Holdings Inc., a satellite communications company that wholesales capacity to Canadian and international internet service providers, says that in the last four or five years, satellites have become bigger and more powerful. Also, the electronics on the ground that access satellite signals has also improved. Furthermore, Xplornet is also upgrading its fixed network of 1,000 towers to offer LTE, or fourth generation, data services. Their goal is to offer this vastly increased internet service for the same price as what customers are currently paying.
Advanced Tech has been Xplornet’s authorized local internet dealer for a few years now and will be on board for the unveiling of the new service when it comes online in mid-2017. For now, you can take advantage of Xplornet’s Anywhere Bundle. This package offers a hefty 10 Mbps download speed without expensive overage charges. As an added incentive, you can try their service for 30 days. Should you find that it’s not for you, you can request your money back as long as you do so before the 30 days are up.
In the meantime, you can access the internet now by calling Advanced Tech, Fredericton’s authorized local internet dealer, at 1 (800) 689-3434 or (506) 472-1800 for quotes on the various Xplornet services.
